Well here we go
« on: February 06, 2010 - 11:07:05 PM »
Well, it is that time that i finally get into the body work of my beasty. I will be ordering 3 patch panels from Dave on Monday and hopefully will be installing them on the upcoming 3 day weekend. I am then going to paint the bottom of the chally like Alans M46 option until we can get to the rest of the car. the process schedule is patches on the main body first, then moving to the roof. and then getting the rest of the good metal ready for paint. I am hoping to have it in full primer before July. If you have any helpful hints on this please let me know...like how the heck to does the drip rail chrome come off? This is my first attempt at body work, i have an old body guy and a current AF sheet metal guy helping me out. Hope all goes well! Can anyone photoshop that for me and let me know what it would look like with the bottom black outs?

the drip rail is held on with screws.  have to first take off the door and quarter window rubber, then the metal retainer that holds the rubber, then the drip rail.
theres been some excellent body work info on this forum.  post pics and ask questions you should be ok.
Best of luck.
Phil

Thanks. I am sure it will be slow moving but as long as I have the site for help and get the car fully in primer before the end of June all will be well

:pullinghair: well the sheet metal didnt come today. i have been looking forward to this all week but  :banghead: thought that ordering Monday and asking if it would be here Friday and getting a YES was enough. Im sure it is probably from the weather....so maybe next weekend. but until then  :walkaway:

well i will not be doing a full resto....just fixing all the rust and doing a repaint. i will be cutting out the circled areas and then moving to the roof. then the rest of the car will be stripped/scuffed to primer and then paint.

Cool.
Hopefully you are able to fix only those spots, and it doesn't lead to other "issues".
Though she looks pretty solid from here

This started off as a lower drivers side quarter panel patch fix  :roflsmiley:  :smilielol: .............. :'(  :crying:
