Side Body Trim Clips, are they available???
« on: February 07, 2010 - 02:41:40 PM »
I was getting out of my car and my jacket caught the side body molding, so, from the front of the fender, back about 2 feet, I pulled the trim off of those nice little factory clips. Oh joy ! ! !  That made me very happy  : - (  NOT!

Are the factory clips still available or should I just use some of the Double Face tape like they sell at Autozone???

I can't speak for the clips, but I know I have seen glue for body side moldings and such.

If you used the 3M double backing tape, would it make the molding bulge out too far?

MEK,
I've seen some tapes like 3M's VHB (Very High Bond) that are very thin. Great hold power.

72,
I didn't pay attention to the clips. I think I need to take a few pictures, maybe clips are available.

Original trim is not flat/solid back like the stuff they sell at part stores; any tape adhesive would need to be very thin and transparent or it would show.

RT Specialties lists molding clips for Barracudas (1970 and 1971-1974); the 1971-4 clips look identical to the ones on my Challenger; no idea if the '70s would work on yours but it might be worth a call.
