30 hrs 22 minutes in the saddle. 1977 miles driven. Five states visited. 180 gallons of diesel. 10 crossings of the Missouri River.
And now it's home.
Several weeks ago I began negotiations for a trade on my 72 Cuda project for a 70 Challenger R/T clone. Biggest hurdle in the deal was the distance. The cars were 2000 miles apart.
My Cuda was located in southern Indiana, and the Challenger was located in northwest Montana.
Further complicating the matter was the fact that I am about to be grounded in anticipation of the birth of my second child. Deal pretty much had to be completed before 3/1, or I was going to have to wait until late spring to make a move.
So we settled on meeting in Murdo SD, the halfway point, as soon as weather would permit. This weekend looked to be a good shot, so we headed out on Friday.
Originally we anticipated stopping in Sioux Falls SD for the night Friday, but we were making such good time, and the weather was cooperating, we decided to push on to Murdo (another 175 miles down the road). We got 100 miles from Murdo and driving conditions deteriorated rapidly. I'll spare the details, but the three of us in the truck became deeply religious while in route to Murdo.
I'd have more pictures of the exchange, but at the time we were all too busy loading, unloading and generally freezing our butts off.
So... about the car. Originally a slant 6 three on the tree zero option car. Now 440 Six Pack w/ 18 spline 4 speed. I'll post more details later. Still trying to unpack and unwind.
