My latest toy...71 Barracuda

I've been trying to buy this car for many years. A friend of mine recently set it up as a bracket car. It's a real sassy grass green 71 Barracuda with black interior. It's a real solid car with very minor rust in a couple of places.
It was originally a 318, bucket seat, auto on the column. Right now it has a potent 360 with edelbrock aluminum heads, roller rockers, MSD dist and 6AL, aluminum radiator, TTI headers and TTI 3" exhaust, b-body 8 3/4, stiffened, Strange axles, Aerospace disc brakes, superstock springs, sub frame connectors and the battery has been moved to the trunk. I plan to finish up the project with a 4 point cage, Impact harnesses and a TCI raceshifter. I kept thinking about racing my 71 Cuda but couldn't bring myself to use a real 71 Cuda like that. This will remedy that dilemma. Can't wait for spring.

I'll try to get more pics.
The car is un-restored and looks a little rough around the edges. I like it that way. I was out checking the coolant in it tonight and wasn't even worried about setting the coolant jug on the header panel. I think this car is definitely going to be fun to drive. Here's the only other pic at this point. My wife went with me to pick it up. She's standing behind the car. She's a total car nut. She's owned many, many hotrods in her life. She still has her limelight fuel injected cuda.

My favorite year as well. I've owned several barracudas and cudas over the years and I always prefer my 71's, but my 70's take a close second. I still have to restore my 71 Cuda, tor-red, 340 bench seat car. Hopefully later this year.

I think I'll leave the 360 small block in this one. It has had quite a bit of money invested in it in the last couple of years. I'm setting the car up so that I can drive it on the street and occasionally on the strip. I sold my super comp dragster almost five years ago and I've been itching to go play a little.
At this point, all of my b-bodies have big blocks and all of my e-bodies have small blocks. I keep several complete engine combos in storage in case I buy something that needs an engine and/or tranny. If I get tired of the small block, I might put one of my 440 setups in it.

 Man you have to put some 71 CUDA fenders on it (louvered) Don't forget the Billboards and the Cuda hood.

I'm fighting the urge to cuda-ize this car. That's what I typically do to any Barracudas that I buy, but I want to make an exception with this one. I have everything needed to make a shaker hood, gilled fender cuda out of it but then it would be just another clone. I've been collecting cuda parts for many years just for this purpose.
This car just has a certain cool-ness to it the way that it is. I've been tinkering around with it, adjusting, cleaning, replacing little parts and doing an overall inspection so that I can start driving it as soon as the weather gets a little warmer.
The guy that I bought it from was in the process of installing a supercharger so I still have to remove a few components that he left on the car that were for the Supercharger. Then I can start playing with the carburetion and timing to make it the way that I like it. He just informed me last night that it has a high dollar street/strip anti-balloon type convertor in it as well as a high dollar sprag and valve body. That's sort of a bonus. Didn't know that it had that.

Here's a few more pics.
We've installed the six pack hood to replace the original flat hood. Now the car has the look to go with the power.
I have a set of nos six pack 340 carbs and a pretty nice original air cleaner. I'm planning to buy a six pack intake and put the setup on this car. Should run great. More pics when that part of the project is finished.
