My Road lamp switch is already in the factory location for a 70 rally dash,  so using it as a reference how far away from the road lamp switch & in which direction is this relay mounting hole you are referring  ?

My  :2cents: . I've been watching this thread hoping for an answer too. From the Accessory wiring diagram for my 1970 Barracuda I can't for the life of me find anywhere where there's a relay. I'm pretty sure '71's had a realy but (according to the picture) I don't think '70 did. Am I wrong, is the schematic wrong or was there no relay in '70 models.  :dunno: .

It goes by the ashtray.Your wire harness from the roadlamp switch will only go so far.The main wire harness will only let you connect it so far away from the relay.Connect the wires to relay from both harnesses and will give you a good location for the relay. It screws to the dash frame.THe 70 did have a relay. If you turn your high beams on the roadlamps will go off.

Ok thanks, I will connect the harness like you suggest & then look near the ashtray to a hole for the relay where ever the harness allows.
FYI `70 relay #2889916 has 3 terminals and it turns on the yellow running/parking lights when the road lamps are switched on,  while the 71 relay has an extra 4th terminal that allows the road lamps to be turned off by the high beam foot switch,  that is why both the 70 & 71 harness & road lamp switchs are different. Note the 70 Plymouth service manual does not show the relay it must have been missed by the editors.  thanks SHU.

So, on a 71 cuda, if you want high beams and road lamps on at the same time, you should install the 1970 relay? :dunno:

I can't answer your question for sure about swapping the relays without schematics of both wire harness & relays, because the harness wiring is different.
But a easier thing to try would be to simply disconnect the wire that comes from the dimmer switch(on the 71 relay it is the single terminal by itself, the other 3 terminals are clustered together), then turn the ignition key to the run position & try the high beam dimmer switch and look if the road lamps stay on ?  Make sure you cover/tape the wire terminal so it does not touch a ground.  Also with a factory relay & harness beware if you are running aftermarket high output headlights & road lamps with newer bulbs that may take extra current.

John, let me have a look tomorrow for ya...  my 70 came with roadlamps originally ,but the lamps were gone when I bought the car.  I do have the switch and I think I have the relais and harness as well.  I will use the switch, but I wont use the wiring. If I have what you need ,it`s yours.  :2thumbs:
