71 R/T FOOSE Overhaulin' Challenger!

I'd like to know who appraised it for $295K.  That's so ridiculous it's not even funny.  The underside looks worse than mine, and I drive mine a couple thousand miles a year.

IMO, the paint job on that thing is just butt-ugly.  It had some decent potental before chippy and gang hosed it all up!

I actually took a couple minutes to read some of the fine and not-so-fine print. I like when someone has a PUBLIC auction, but wants everyone to keep their opinions to themselves on forums like ours. Why the car is being sold really has nothing to do with its value.

As many of you know that have seen the episode, this car was a love affair and was held close to the heart of the seller. Selling this car was not a decision that was easily made, but a necessity. In respect to the seller, we are keeping this private but would like to tell all of you that have so easily come to your own conclusions that most of you are wrong and that you should keep your assumptions, opinions and comments to yourself.

That's what I've never liked about "Foose" cars...he NEVER restores the bottom of the car, or inside of the car. He just puts on fresh paint, and new interior parts and fills the trunk with stereos. Not a true restoration (be it back to original or restomod), just makes it "look" good on the outside. How that can ever last, I wouldn't know. And to have it appraised at $295K? Someones on some good drugs!

Good Grief!  What! Are we supposed to feel guilty for knowing our stuff and because the original owner really loves his vanilla 318 challenger that had a fancy TV spot overpriced restoration that flies in the face of most purists we somehow are supposed to reach deep down into our hearts and pay a ridiculous price for a car that in all honesty is worth 30 to 40 k MAX because he's had a rough time?  Great salesmanship!  These fancy car dealers must be dealing in selling Deloreans on the side cause they gotta get into reality.  I have seen plenty of these so called one of restoration cars they are peddling that they got incorrect parts and finishes ALL over them. 

A dealer by me was asking 27k for a nice looking 318 72 charger!  Come On know...it was a nice car...but 27k!  The worst part about it is someone actually bought it.  This sale is just another example of how ridiculous these dealers can get.

First off ShelbyDogg the correct spelling is Down Syndrome.  Secondly please don't ridicule or poke fun of people with special needs.  There's far to many other ways to refer to Chip Foose if you wish to do so.  I have a daughter with Down Syndrome and  I really don't like that term used in that way.  Thanks

this is not surprising because when it comes down to it it is just a 318 challenger with a fancy paint job autometer gauges, and built 440.  Nothing earth shattering in the mopar world and certainly not worth over 30 to 40k at the most! 

I love the sarcastic bold post to all of us forum readers.  the only thing thats holding this car for value is that it was on TV.  My guess is that other mopar guys are seeing it for what it is...a 318 chally with big motor and a fancy paint job.  Hell most purists would turn it into a factory looking R/T if they had the chance (including me) so why the big $$$  If you're truly gonna spend that $$$$ you can get a REAL 440 +6 R/T, T/A, good convert, and in some cases a HEMI.  These guys don't seem to understand that in the mopar world real R/T's, TA's, and converts carry legitamate value...not necessarily beefed up 318 TV cars...  

Has the guy tried Volo Auto?  They buy a lot of TV and movie cars...

i saw the episode of overhaulin when it originally aired with that challenger and i have to say the guy didn't look to happy when they revealed the car to him. i immediately looked at my wife and said "don't ever do that to me" i do not want my car overhauled. they ruined that car. on a similar note joe rogan ruined that super clean 70 barracuda. he chopped up a nice car when he could have just got found a race car project since they were cutting the frame out anyway.

If the seller really needed the money the car would`ve already sold for whatever $$ it would bring ,not keep listing it for some ridiculous amount trying to cash out on the Foose name.In other words-I ain`t buying the sob story!

Yeah, I gotta agree, I've never been a fan of Chip's work.  He  seems... mostly, like a nice guy, if plenty proud of himself but his work just doesn't do it for me.

I like the 72 challenger he did.
