Nick I think maybe you have the wrong shifter arm on there. I ran into a similiar issue , I had a B&M shifter arm on when I bought my car ( see first picture) I changed my car from a column shift to a floor shift. The second pic is the arm I used. No there is not a bushing on there!

Hey Brad - I am confused, how can you tell by looking at the pics I posted that the bracket is wrong, not trying to be sarcastis, just trying to learn and understand, thanks again!!

Got under there and took this pic.
Yes the bracket looks like the L shape backet.
No the horizintal rod does not look like it hits the neutral safety switch, with the car in Park there is enough room for me to slip my hand flat between the rod and the switch.
Look at the pick, the arrows show 2 things, the one looks like a bracket and the other is a square boss, they were connected together but not tight, I was able to lift the bracket off the boss, I am sure this is the down shift arm from the carb, am I correct or not?
The bracket has a round hole and the boss is square.... something is not right!!!

Brad - Yes the car was original with a console setup but the problem lies when the owner decided to put a 360 into this car when it was originally a 440 equiped car from the factory.

Steve - By the looks of the underside of the car and K frame and other attributes, I can almost safely say that this is really an original 15,500 mile car and not a mile more. He has been putting this motor and trans combo in this and has taken his sweet time..... The trans is dirty because it has a bad pan leak and the underside of the car is also undercoated, this is sweet, I am shocked.....

Nick, looks like you have the wrong prnd2l lever, yours should be straight. Send me your address and I will send you one out. It is a straight one

Yep, as we suspected, wrong lever. It was too cold out today to see if mine is straight or "L" shaped. I've got a 70K mile 318/904 slap-stik setup.

Judging from the molded-in plastic bushing in your lever, it's from something in the late 70's-80's with a snap-in type linkage.

NSS is a hex-shaped doohickey with three brass prongs sticking out from it. A molded plastic connector with a 3-wire harness clips onto it and goes to the bulkhead connection under (above?) the windshield wiper plug.

Hi Nick  The arm that you have off in your picture is the kickdown lever,It looks exactly the same as mine! if you look it has a "half moon" hole that fits the tranny shaft. Just make sure it goes through both holes before you try to tighten it.

Yup,like everyone has said, the upper bushing is bad because it's missing the four tabs to hold it in place.

The shifter lever is wrong and very loose hole fit where the rod slips in.

Steve - you are correct, the trans is a 76-79 year, it came with the motor, so said the last owner.
NSS looks different and I am not sure if it is because of the later year trans or if he has added to the covering or something, in one of the previous pictures you can see a tie-strap in the NSS vacinity and I do not know what it is doing or why it is there. Also it looks like there is a wire from it going towards the friver door and it is also wrapped up in electrical tape.
I will have to investigate and take more pics.....

Thanks I will look at it closely when I have the car up on stands and then I can fit under it....  :bigshades:

Must be a late model version lever, thanks for the input Terry, question, will the dealer have the correct pan gasket for these and what should I order from them, should I just say it is for an A body 727 or did the 360 use a B body 727? I have never owned a small block like this, sorry....
