72 Chally front seat question

Hey all

I am working on a 1972 Challenger, 318 car and I'm starting to work on the interior.  i also have a 04 Cadillac cts and was thinking that Cadillac cts seats would be very comfy in the challenger.  Has anyone retrofitted different seats in their challenger?  Would even the thought be considered blasphemy?

could be done , you need to make spacer to level the seat on the uneven floor , I have seen BMW seats fitted as well a numerous race seat s

E-bod seats are quite low so measure up first to make sure your Caddy ones don't bring your head up too near the roof, especially if they've got a heap of electrics underneath they could be too high.

in my opinion you would have to have them re-skinned in a more retro pattern to make it match up, the modern styling just doesnt fit in IMO

If it was me I would use the correct color and grain vinyl to recover them, in a similar style to the originals

Since I drive my car quite a lot I toyed with using some seats from a Jeep Cherokee.  They're comfy, very adjustable, and they're Mopar (sort of) and I thought they don't look too modern. 

But in the end I went with some old Challenger cores recovered.

Often as I drive along I wonder how nice it would be sitting on a Jeep seat !

You can put any seat in anything if you have a welder and a cut-off tool. These are the seats going in the Cuda for my wife. It will have an electric six way on the driver's seat and they recline all the way back. The Driver's also has a lumbar adjuster. They also hold you in the seat when going around turns.

Start with some stock seats tracks to get the right angle, then add on from there. Which ones do you think look better?

'92 Honda Prelude.  I bought it with a blown engine, Put in a JDM VTEC H22A swap. Sold it to a kid for lots of money. He rolled it within 3 weeks. (you have to be carefull around turns with a front wheel drive and nitrous).
I bought it back for the motor and seats. Put engine in another Prelude then sold it for lots of money. Cut the car up with a sawzall into bite-sized pieces, threw the entire car into a dumpster at work, AND KEPT THE SEATS!

I agree with shelbydogg, cut off wheel, welder, and you can fit almost anything you want in there.

I'm working on some Supra seats for mine right now. They have nice side supports, thigh supports, adjustable tilt headrest, fore/aft position, tilt/recline, and three bag lumbar adjustment. For $50 for the set, I'll make them fit.

Almost anything you get will need the inside track spaced from the floor differently than the outside track. My tape put it at 1.5" difference.

Just keep in mind how wide the seats are and if you want to have a console.  I see Shelby's seats work with the console, but others I have seen used are too wide and they were not be able to use the console.

And make sure that you stand at the front of the car and eyeball the seats before final welding/mounting.  I see many e-bodies where the seats and or covers aren't on straight after being bolted in.

Thanks ShelbyDogg for sharing that bit of experience. I would have NEVER thought to look from the front! And my luck, they would be in at different heights AND crooked to boot!
