Lets see some pictures of street beaters like this one!
« on: February 20, 2010 - 04:21:14 PM »
I love this look. Copied the picture from somewhere on here, and I cant get enough of the whoop a** in primer/beater look. I've actually seen cars professionally finished this way, with rivets along the seams and stuff like that:

This is just my opinion, so no pot shots, but I just don't understand why anyone would spend money on a car to intentionally make it look unfinished.  It's one thing if they drive it around mid-project while they build up some more funds, but to actually build it that way is crazy to me.  If I spend money on my car, I want it to look as nice as possible.  I have my Chally at the Dallas Autorama this weekend, and they are doing a special section on the rat rods, and I won't even bother going over to see them because they do absolutely nothing for me.  I know, opinions are like a** holes, everyone has one and they all stink, but that's just mine.

Twisted Fish doesn't quite look like that anymore... There were some pics in an LED thread. It has a grille, paint job, excellent led lighting.. :2thumbs:

I LOVE Satin/Flat black cars, they kick ass. Some don't like them, some do, just one of those things. Done properly, they can be pulled off very nicely. Like the Camaro below, not a MoPar but you see my point. I think I like them because they are just Sinister and Mad Max. In todays world of two tone paint jobs, massive 22" chrome wheels and TVs in every available space, it's a stand against it with a no fuss, no bling route and that's what I like. A real f%#k off style theme going, just look at Aaron Becks, awesome! Dad and I are seriously considering doing this to his 'Cuda. 2c

cars are art!

some good, some bad, some you can get your head around, some leave you shaking your head.

appreciate them all!

Real rat rods and beaters look OK but ones that are made to look like that just don`t pull it off IMO as it is too obviuos they are made to look rough-if that makes any sense.

:iagree: A nicely finished matte black is definitely cool.  It's the gray primer finish people sometimes use that I don't get.  I believe Mercedes offers some of their top-end cars with a matte finish, too.

Personally, I rather enjoy the flat/matte finishes I see on a lot of cars, especially when it brings out the car's true style and personality. I find the uniqueness of a rusting rat rod just as eye pleasing as a beautiful $30,000 PPG paint job. Of course, I'm all about the individuality of a ride in regards to the car on its own merit as well as it's connection to its owner/driver. It's why I love this hobby. :2thumbs:

I'd love to see more pics.
My Challenger will be going out with it's fadded original paint and door dings. But it will have a full rebuilt undercarrage, suspension system with Hotchkis, Firm Feel, and XV hiding under it.
Two years under the car and I am all most done. I have to just finish up the welding around the back window.
Then install my new dropped spindles, the 408 and 5spd.
I really have a push to get it done for Carlisle since I heard there might be a road course for us twisties guys.
After a while I will pull it down and do a satin green using the original code.
Jackson from Toronto.
