leaf spring question

when installing leaf springs,is there one for left side and one for right side.if so how do you know,thanks.

Yes, there should be part numbers stamped on them.  The one that ends in an even number is for the right (passenger) side.

thanks for reply. i guess i just installed mine on the wrong sides. what is the difference  of the two sides,thanks

One side holds a fat girl, the other side holds a race car driver.   Actually a few pound of difference tho I couldnt tell by the size.  Some had one extra leaf and it was very short

the right side was always slightly stiffer & sometimes had extra leafs

Reverse them if you want your car to launch and handle correctly.  The torque from the driveshaft makes the rear want to twist in the opposite direction which is why the right leaf spring is stronger.  I'm not sure how much you'd notice it driving the car normally, but if you ever 'get on it' or have a high HP motor it could be a bigger issue.  Just my .02...

dont wanna hijack here, but I have two questions:
First, I have 6 leafs on each side, the short bottom leaf on each side is cut back to the seat. Why is that?
Also, the driver side has 2 clamps on the rear half of the springs, but the passenger side has only one clamp back there, or is one just missing?
I would imagine those clamps add stiffness.

the short spring generally only goes forward to stiffen the front section without stiffening the rear section that controls the ride .
 using less rear clamps will allow the rear of the spring to separate more letting the car to rise more

Some cars used the same spring on both sides too, so it depends on your application.

AARs & T/As are one example of this.
