1970 to 1971 Cuda ;Auto Shift Handle questions

I have a 71 Cuda with a 1970 style slap stik shifter handle/ball.

Im looking at getting back to the 1971 correct  T Handle shifter

Questions:

The center console.  Its a 70.  DO I need to change out center console form a 70 to a 71?

SHifter mechanism:  Do all I need to do is change out the shifter from a 70 back to a 71, or does the entire shift linkage from the shifter, all the way to the tranny have to be changed?

Im hoping all I need to do is change out the shifter assembly from the ball to the T style assembly

The ball & T-handle interchange, no need to do anything else.

you need to swap out the entire shifter assy as the shaft is round for the ball & rectangle for the T handle but nothing else needs to be changed

The slider in the bezel is different as well. The 70 has a round hole and the 71 has a rectangular hole.  The consoles will interchange.
Note...The 70 console is worth about twice as much as a 71 up console.
