    What upgrades, shift kits, stall speeds, brands and settings?

    I'm just curious as to what you have and how they preform, stock TF-727's a solid and quick but and modifyed trans will definitely help.


    MEK, I'd like to see what you think of your TransGo-2 kit you installed a while ago. I'm leaning towards them or TCI.

    I want a kit that doesn't have hard shifts when changing at cruising speeds but in a drag I want to feel them.
    I have heard shift kits that can make those tires chirp GOOD in all gears.  8) :D

    Hey..when my uncle rebuilds a 727 he takes the shaft drills more holes so it will sling more oil..and he makes his on shiftkits.... ;D  he rebuilt a 727 and the thing shifts so hard that it will slam your head back in the seat everytime it shifts...and it will chirp the tires with out hitting full throttle....but it would cost a bundle to ship it to my uncle and hes busy with a wedding for his son...but anyways.. i heard great things with trans go...i would tell you how my transgo shiftkit works if i had my tranny... ;D stall speed you dont' want to get to radical with enless you swap cams shift kits stay away from b&m and up grades install a external trans cooler and a deep pan...and it will save the tranny even more...

    Yeah I will definitley instal a chrome deep pan at some stage. I'll see what my transmission feels like once I get it back on the road.

    I bet I'll love it no matter what, from memory it shifted crisp and fast, very fast actually, probably won't need a shift kit.  8) ;D

      I was away for a week, so I'm sorry about the delay. The Transgo shift kit is fine. It says it will double the life of my transmission, so that is enough for me. The biggest difference is that the engine revs longer before it shifts. That's why you feel it more. If you are going mostly "stock", I'm worried about what rating torque converter you will go with. 3000 seems like it would be too much. I would think something in the 2200 to 2400 range would be better for you.

    Stay away from the chrome pans...they retain heat......................................go with a finned aluminum deep pan.....

    Hey NZ, I thought you were contemplating a 4 speed changeover? Maybe I am dreaming but I thought you were seriously thinking along those lines. The tranny in my dads 68 Roadrunner was bone stock 727 and I put it through litteral HELL! (just a few years ago  ;D )  It had 84K when he traded it off and those were bone jarring miles too! If you can make them better my hat is off to you. Nice to start with a real good solid tranny anyway which is what the 727 is!  Rev, that car will have to got to the powder room every time you do! That is way sweet! Not too many out there (that I have seen anyway) that are that clean! Nice job.  :D

    DF, we didn't want to paint the underside the body color (that paint is waaaaay too expensive!), so we went with an inexpensive gray color we liked that we thought would contrast well with the black componenets underneath.  I don't recall what the exact kind of paint was (it was 4 years ago), but I know it was a lot less expensive.

    Um, I decided to keep the TorqueFlite-727. #'s 1970 Challenger R/T's SHOULD NOT be touched IMO.  8)

    I like both 4-speed's and TorqueFlites. 727 for speed and 4-speed for fun. Hopefully I'll own both one day, well, I'm 1/2 way there.  ;D

    With that R/T of yours, I'd consider being all the way there and then starting again when you find that 4 spd. Hard to top that find you already have "mate"! By the way, anyone here feel possessed? hehe, dumb question to ask a Challenger or 'Cuda owner.
