Ballast resistor ohms

I have a ballast resitor, two prongs. it measures 4.4 ohms. anyone know what the factory value is supposed to be?  just wondering...

I think the singles are one and a bit ohms and the extra one on the doubles is about 5 ohm.  I don't know any coil that would work properly with 4.4 ohms in the way.

4.4 ohms?   

The stock two prong resistors were 1.2 ohms. Aftermarket resistors will vary a bit.

You might want to check your ohmmeter against a known resistance. Resistors usually short, or more commonly, open. I can't recall a resistor just increasing in value a couple ohms.

It can happen. The resistor that was in my car when I first bought it measured 2.4 Ohms. The car wouldn't start when it got below 40* F because the spark was so weak. That problem took me a good while to figure out.

I checked the ballast resistor in my car (which works fine) and it measures 1.6 ohm.
don't know where this other resister came from (what car that is, we had a few) but the ceramic is moulded to have a mounting point. - so i looked on yearone.com and found this:
