Fusible link?
« on: February 28, 2010 - 03:54:50 PM »
After an exhaustive search of all local auto parts stores, I was unable to locate a fusible link. All I could find were actual inline fuses (two prong, new car type)

Question is, If I need a 14 gauge fusible link, what is a corresponding fuse size (amps)?
Same question for a 16 gauge fusible link

I am getting ready to do the "mad electrical" ammeter by-pass

Thanks in advance

25 amps should be adequate but it will blow fast where a fusable link is a slow blow , most parts stores I have been in have fusable link available , did you ask for it

Yeah, I asked everywhere and all they could show me were for honda or just look at me blankly.
I would normally go to Napa, but it being sunday and all, they were closed :crying:

Go to the HELP section of AutoZone, They sell a whole roll of 14g fusible link wire. Don't know if Oreillys has it because I always bought it at AZ.

weird , usually they have rolls you can solder or crimp in , or pigtails with a ring terminal on one end

I've seen those too in the fuse section.  He must have "limited stock" at his stores.

I bought mine at NAPA.  They had em hanging on the electrical parts rack outside of the counter.

We got one a CarQuest just the other week. We carried in the old one and the parts man got one off the shelf. It already had the ring connector on one end and a butt connector on the other. We did remove the butt conn and solidered it in place.
