My son and I watched the game, I told him Crosby has been cold throughout the games and he would get the game winner. Wish I could pick lotto numbers that way! Both of us are Pens fans and you could just feel it coming.
Congrats to Canada :canada:
The US went farther than any one predicted and congrats to them TOO :wavingflag:

This men's hockey (and others such as basketball) game is why  I do not watch quite honestly. These are professional athelets, what it amounts to is a professional player from the Pittsburgh team scored the winning goal in overtime. But years ago Jim Thorpe had his gold medal taken away for a summer game event because they found out he got paid like $20.00 for travel expenses playing for a semi pro football team. Professional athelets  :2cents: should not be allowed to participate, but they change the rules to draw bigger crowds and bring in more money.  Anyway their celebration was far overshadowed by the Canadian womens team  :roflsmiley:

1970 Charger 500
1971 Dart Swinger
1972 R/R 440+6 (wanabe)

Gotta agree with you, they are professionals where all the other sports are truly amateur.

I guess though, the reasoning is that the NHL and other professional teams grab all the top players from each country regardless of where they will be playing.  (You don't see the same sort of thing happening with cross country ski teams or curling or whatever- they all draw from the best that the individual country can supply.)

So it seems fair that these guys can go back and play for their country because the playing field is even - each country can play their best players!

The problem arose when the Soviet Union started winning everything with their "amateur" hockey teams.....amateur did not mean the same thing to them as it did to the rest of the world!  That sort of unfairness is what can be avoided by playing professional players in the Olympics.

How do you define professional?  A lot (not all)of the atheletes for the other sports don't do anything else but the sport they play in.  A lot of them just travel from place to place (like where ever the snow may be) doing what they do.

Anyways, congrats to Canada.  That was a great game and showed that it was the two best teams going for the gold.  I had a lot of fun watching some of the players out there (for multiple teams) that used to be in the USHL.  It's great to see them now and remember them then.
