America's Deadliest Sweetener Betrays Millions, Then Hoodwinks You With Name Change
Aspartame is the most controversial food additive in history, and its approval for use in food was the most contested in FDA history. In the end, the artificial sweetener was approved, not on scientific grounds, but rather because of strong political and financial pressure. After all, aspartame was previously listed by the Pentagon as a biochemical warfare agent!  Did you know there have been more reports to the FDA for aspartame reactions than for all other food additives combined?

It’s hard to believe such a chemical would be allowed into the food supply, but it was, and it has been wreaking silent havoc with people’s health for the past 30 years.

The truth is, it should never have been released onto the market, and allowing it to remain in the food chain is seriously hurting people – no matter how many times you rebrand it under fancy new names.

Sold commercially under names like NutraSweet, Canderel, and now AminoSweet, aspartame can be found in more than 6,000 foods, including soft drinks, chewing gum, table-top sweeteners, diet and diabetic foods, breakfast cereals, jams, sweets, vitamins, prescription and over-the-counter drugs.    :money:

I worked on a chemical plant in Cincinnati for 28 years, we made saccharin. I know it to has its concerns for health in people, but we had a test done by a univeristy that had six mice die of cancer and it was put on the carcinogenic list for 20 years. We had people work in that building for 30 to 35 years and never developed cancer, and we got higher doses than the normal person could get, because we dealt with it PURE. Now to get the amount of saccharin that the mice got in only six weeks, a person would have to drink 6 two liters of a drink with saccharin for TWENTY years. Now a product like aspartame came along with no federal testing because it was touted as "all natural". Well testing showed it entered the stomach and mixed with the acids and then to the blood as formaldehyde, which causes headaches, so people started to complain, but were told it was not the Nutasweet. The company I worked for is no onger in the business of sacchrine and we were the only plant in the US to make sacchrine. Another 80 jobs lost to the bureaucracy. I'm glad to see someone else knows about the lies we are told. :stirpot: :bricks1: :villagers:

If there is one thing I have learned from reading about "laboratory tests", its that they cannot be trusted.  None of us are mice and there are MANY more factors to our health than what the mice in lab tests are subjected to. And the "clinical tests" they do are all funded by SOMEONE who wants a certain result.  Its the same process that Al Gore used to "prove" that we are causing "global warming".

EVERYTHING causes "cancer" these days.....I truly believe its not one thing....its a combination of relatively sedantray lifestyles most of us lead more than anything.

I also take anything from a "natural health" site with a grain of salt...they are pushing their own agenda as well.

shadango,

I agree that
Quote
EVERYTHING causes "cancer" these days
.  I think if you get right down to it though, it's because we are now living long enough to get it.  When your lifespan is only 45 or so years, it doesn't come up much.  You live to 80 or so and there's a good chance for it.

Still, the biggest cause of death is "Natural Causes"  sure makes me want to avoid Natural Foods.

Every time a study comes out to say *fill in the blank-eggs,pasta,beer,meat,red dye,etc...* is bad for you just wait a few years and another study will come out proving the first one wrong, happens all the time. Now I wo`nt go eating lead and drinking bleach but the average life span keeps going up so if you are somewhat smart about it your chances are good.Cancer does seem to everywhere though, earlier today my buddy called to say he has Lymphoma and is starting treatment next week and he`s my age~50ish.

After a while...no more ants!  :woohoo:

For 25 years or more every day Ive been drinking an average of about 40 ounces of diet coke, and about 4 bags of it in my coffee.
I could drop dead tomorrow but otherwise in excellent health as of today, and I've never had a headache.

Funny how this Dr. Mercola spouts a bunch of unsubstantiated rumors about aspartame (Nutra Sweet), and even suggests that the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) was somehow 'on the take' in approving it.  Of course, he has no basis for his suggestion that the FDA bypassed their own approval process, and never names these villians who paid off the government.

And then he recommends that people use a sweetener that has not even yet been reviewed/approved by the US FDA!
I didn't spend enough time on his site to see how he documented his claim that aspartame was a '...biochemical warfare agent', but that must be an interesting read!

You better look out, tommyg29, this sounds like dangerous stuff!   ;)

Dr. Mercola has been around for a long time and is a thorn in the side of the FDA, he is no quack. I have known about this poison for many years and only cut and pasted a small amount from Mercola's latest publication, he is not the only one trying to expose these problems. The whole point of informing about this product is because they are trying to disguise it under a new name.

I think the word "disguise" sort of infers that there is some sort of criminal or unethical activity here.

Various products often are re-marketed to bump up profits.  Aspartame is a base material used to make other products.

Cigarrettes contain tar and nicotine...the latter being the addictive stuff.  But have you ever seen a brand of cigarrette called 'Nicotine sticks" ???

Of course not.

Why is this product any different?

Some studies have shown it to be dangerous.  Others have shown it to be safe.

Who do you believe?

Whether or not this particualr product is dangerous I think we have to make up our own minds....like Al Gore's Global Warming "evidence", much can be crafted and spun to appear a certain way on both sides.

I will say this -- I am not worried about using the sweetener as much as I am worried about chemicals and heavy metals that end up in my drinking water or the second hand filthy smoke I have to inhale when near a gaggle of smokers or the danger I face when some drunk climbs behind the wheel (why do bars have parking lots if you arent supposed to drink and drive?).

We all weigh the risks and do what we need to do to mitigate them.

Smokers are a perfect example..."studies" have show for years that smoking will cause damage to your lungs. Not long before those came out, there were doctors talking about how beneficial smoking could be.  :grinno:

There have been graphic images shown of "smokers lung" and numerous studies linking it with lung cancer......yet cigarette sales are still strong.

We like our addictions and feeding our sweet tooth, obviously.

We are all big boys and girls and we can make the decisions for ourselves I think.

I am sure some folks will stop chewing gum, drinking diet soda pop, etc due to this "news". I am sure an equal (no pun intended) number of people will ignore it and live blissfully on as they add a packet or 4 to their favorite mug of coffee.

Not sure what this doctor is looking to do......get the government to step in and make the stuff illegal? Or line his own pockets like Al Gore did? :clueless:

Has to be one or the other...otherwise he is just flapping his gums.

Don't forget, there is a TON of money to be made in the "natural remedies" area and that potential increases as people spread these sorts of stories...

My mother is heavy into the "natural remedy" crap and her solution to my Grandfather's cancer years ago was to have him take some sort of herbal supplement and drop the pain meds and such.....he was in stage 3 bone cancer.  He was in tremendous pain as it was. Thank GOD my relatives had enough sense to not take my mother's advice and put him thru more pain.

Just my two cents.

Not saying anyone is wrong or right. Or that some "natural remedies" dont work.  After all, these remedies are simply natural versions of chemicals, modern medicines are man-made versions of the same chemicals.....both can work and BOTH can have serious side effects.

Just sayin'.

In the meantime, I would take ANY remedy...natural, manmadeor otherwise.... for this freaking bachache I have had for 3 days now....AAAARRRRGGGHHH!! :22yikes:

you can`t just compare it to smoking.  if you do want to smoke, don`t smoke... if you don`t want to use aspartame ,you`ve got a problem.  this stuff is in soooo many products everyone uses every day. most products don`t mention it being in there.  the list of medicine containing aspartame is enormous as well....  kinda funny too that the pharma-industry who make aspartame also make medication for treadment of problems caused by the same stuff... these meds often contain aspartame too...  :violin:
bilions were invested to push aspartame onto the market with very positive research results to back it up... these tests were all done by companies involved in producing or making money on the stuff!
