Finally, pix of my '71 Challenger!
« on: September 23, 2004 - 08:56:29 PM »
Here it is!  I finally took pix of my '71 Challenger.  Like I've said before, she's not too pretty right now, but she will be!  A "diamond in the rough" I guess!  I picked her up last month, and she needs a decent amount of work, but nevertheless a good find!  A 1971 Plain-Jane with a fair amount of options.  Originally B5 Blue with a white vinyl top,(of which she will be again), a 440-4bbl powerplant, although not original; the car is an N code, but I'm gonna keep the 440 and rebuild it.  To me, its not worth getting another 383 because "its supposed to " have one in there.  I'm thinking though, ditch the a/c and go with a 6 Pack, or keep the a/c and the 4 bbl?...hmmm...decisions!  It came from the factory with a 383 -4bbl, (long gone), but has the original 727 trans, and the  8 3/4 rear.  Also came from the factory with these options: a/c, power steering, power disc brakes, power windows, 6 way adjustable driver's seat, rallye dash, chrome & remote dual racing mirrors, am/fm radio, belt& hood moldings, front bumper periphery(??), 3 spd wipers, exterior trim molding group.  1970 15" rallye rims on there from another car, but since I don't know what originally came on this car, no build sheet(s), I'm thinking of going steel wheels/dog dish hubcaps, or maybe get the correct centercaps/trim rings for the rallyes, right now the last thing on my mind, although I'm leaning towards the dog dishes!  The only thing Im gonna change is the flat hood to a rallye, and the rear valence to one with exhaust cutouts, other than that I want the car to look as it did when it came of the lot in 1971.  Also, the interior is Brite Blue, and it has the Tuff Wheel I previously posted about.  I think I'm gonna keep it, I don't know if it came with it(again no build sheets) but I'l leave it instead of going 3 spoke.  So here she is!  (I'll put another post up for the rest of my pictures)

Thanks Street!  I like the wide hood molding too!  Don't see that much at all, when I get the new hood ( this one is shot)  I will re -install the molding.

Jimmy looks like its all there pretty much except for the lower valance.  Those floors looked really solid! That will be a great car . . what color are you going to paint it . . .Original??  You could always make a shaker out of that flat hood!  Just a thought! Looks like a great car!!  Hows it run??

Great lookin' project.  It's in a lot better condition than my cuda when I bought it.  A "diamond in the rough" indeed!

Looks pretty darn straight to me mate.  :D A few of the e-body problem areas can be spotted but for a 35 year old car it's SOLID!

Those wheels look fat as!  8) :D

Nice find bud.  ;)
