Sure... I'll Give It A Try.
« on: March 03, 2010 - 08:12:29 PM »
Hi folks. I've been following quite a few of your projects here, so I thought I'd start one of my own. I have quite a bit of tear- down and some repairs done already, but I think I'll start from the Start. Wish me luck!
Here's when I bought it:

Here's at the beginning of teardown:

Here's what it looks like today:

I've done quite a few rust patches / repairs in the process, will post them here later.
Mike.

Working on the right side. rebuilt the rear of the inner rocker, front lower wheelhouse and fender lip. Didn't have anything to go by, so I shot from the hip. This entire area was gone from rust.

Thanks.. Yep, we are the fortunate ones to have the "antique european sportcar hood tie downs" option.  :clapping: Started working on this mess last night. Whoever removed the roof skin used a cutoff wheel and a crow bar. That, with the rust outs, is another area I have to guess what it needs to look like when it's finished.

Try to copy/paist the "img" link instead of the "http" one you've been using on your photobucket pics.

Good luck with the car.

Looks like a great project.  What engine/trans?  Was that a dana rear axle, or... keep us posted.

The car was a 318 / 904 with 7.25 rear. It was also originally an S.E. Have a 410 Dana 60 Power Lok on the floor next to the car. Going the 426 fuel inj. and 6 speed route. Also changing the suspension front and rear .... once I have a body to work with, that is! Honestly cant wait to get into the mechanical part of the project. I'm not a body man.
Got more repairs done over the weekend. Fixed the structure over the right side windows and made a quarter window pivot channel.

Learned a valuable lesson.... Wire wheel everything clean in the area you are working! Did some patch work, and when I thought I was finished, wire wheeled the surrounding area and found more holes. Won't do that again! :swear:

More progress. Rebuilt the back of the rear wheelhouses and the back 1/3rd of the package tray. Starting to get the hang of this!
