Slow progress, but I'm getting something done. Working on driver side rear seat pan. Here's how the passenger side turned out.....

I know, I'm off to buy a camera.  More over the weekend.  :working:

Thanks a lot, I really appreciate that! Looks we've both been busy this weekend. I made it a little further on my rear seat pan project. I tried to form ribs in a chunk of sheetmetal with a ballpeen hammer, but I couldn't keep my patch panel from warping badly, so I'll do the tubing method again. Here's what I got done this weekend:

:iagree: I was actually planning on replacing this whole under seat section, originally, but decided to put my foot down and keep at least one original part of the car!  :roflsmiley: The welding and cutting is no problem to me, but the cleaning and patch fitting is very time consuming.

Keep it up!  Many people do not have the ability (or patience) to do that.  Can't wait to see the finished goods.

Inspirational works as usual Mike.
Great frigging job man  :clapping:

It's funny how you can look at a before and after pic of a section so easily, but then you realize how much time was put into cutting out the old, finding a piece of steel to use, bending, twisting and forming that piece to fit just right, cleaning the steel, tacking it in place, grinding the welds down, protecting the steel, etc....etc...etc........  :swear: :stomp: :pullinghair: :banghead:  :faint:

It's it truly a labor of love for those who go through it, and it's pretty damn cool when you get down to it.
Many will never understand it  :clueless: :screwy:
Few will feel the gratification it gives you  :bigshades:

And this is coming from someone whos Chally is in 6,000,000,000,000,000 pieces  :crying: :roflsmiley:

Keep it up Mike. I really appreciate the way you explain exactly what you have done.
It has helped me get a better grasp on the bigger picture

Good to hear from you again Jeff! You are right, looking at the big picture is what it takes to get a guy through a project like this. If you only look at the work you are doing at a certain time it's easy to get overwhelmed!  :bricks1:

Here's a little more I got done (both sides):

That's about it for the rear seat pan other a little clean up underneath. Moving to the trans crossmember and inner rockers.  :faint: (Yes, the little hole in the floor is fixed now)

Thanks a bunch Bart! I'm pretty motivated right now and realize that if I get past the shell and bodywork, everything left will be gravy!   Looking forward to when I'm as far along as you are!  :2thumbs:
