Many thanks for the compliments. I did pass on this car once when I was searching for one. The price came down far enough it ended up on my trailer.  :screwy:

More progress made this week. Removed the cowl to gain access to the rest of the firewall. This will be a challenge, but I'm determined to fix this:

More soon.  :working:

Mike, you've more than proved your abilities on this car, but there comes a time when you'd be hurting yourself not to take a hand in the repairs to this rust bucket. I thought mine was bad- and it is, but I went for the AMD firewall and it'll save me weeks of cutting and welding, only to have a patched up panel that God only knows where it'll rot through next. I don't doubt for a second your ability to Frankenstein this thing together, I just don't know why you wouldn't buy the panel and have a nicer repair. Your time must be worth something and it'd give the old mig a chance to cool down! You'll have to join the UAW if you don't take it easy.

:roflsmiley: You have a good point! The upper area of the firewall is pretty bad now that I have it clean. The really nasty stuff that is readily visible in the pictures would be easy enough to patch, but there numerous pinholes over the entire upper area. Even in the metal that looks solid. I have been working on it for the past few hours since my last post and this is what I got...

I'm going to sleep on it, I guess, and make a decision. There will probably 6 to 8 patches to get the major stuff, then probably a day with the brass paddle to get the pot holes.  :villagers:

I already have the new upper cowl. Hmmmmm!

That's what I was thinking. You'll spend days stitching the thing together and grinding, only to have some unseen pit rot through after you've put on your new cowl and pi$$ all into your dash and interior! Now THAT, would tick a guy off! It's money well spent, buddy! Bed time in Ontario!

:roflsmiley: Not quite yet my friend. Still hacking out the firewall. I'll post photos of my adventure in a couple of days. I did give myself an early birthday gift though:

I tip my hat to you sir !       :faint:          As said,I'd get a new cowl. Don't waste your time with that mess.  Rust and thin metal don't make for good welds. The rocker looks great! You got the skill!  Keep up the good work! R/T
