Mopars at the Battleship
« on: March 04, 2010 - 12:20:24 PM »
Has anyone ever been to this show. It is in Mobile, AL on April 24th. I was thinking about going but wanted to get some advice as to the quality of the show.

Here's some great pics from last year to give you a little better idea of what it's about

Well, I was thinking about going to and taking my car down there on a trailer.  Wade, Russ, and I were planning on all going together, but it says 40% T storms on Sat and 10% on Sun.  Here is the weather forcast for there.  I know I wont be taking my car if it rains

My concern is less that it might rain a little but that the threat will keep participation down.
This happened here 2-years ago...rain was forecast but the day was great, hardly any cars came.
We can hold our cards till the last minute so to speak, I'm planning on coming but will have to bail if Alan's not up to it or the weather is bleak.
Man I'm looking forward to a big plate of crab claws.

Well the day was blustery to say the least but the rain held off pretty much through 1PM. Was a good trip I am gad we made it... Maybe future shows will have better forecasts.
While participation was down I counted about 100-cars. Here's a few.

I had a blast there.  There was also about 10 other mopar people there from my area, so I got to meet some people who I can go on cruises with.  I managed to pick up some items for myself, Cudaguy , and a friend of mine that owns a 70 Road runner. I bought a complete grill for 175 bucks.  A guy had an original gull wing in perfect shape that went cheaper then a repop one. a 71 340 standard bore complete short block for 400 bucks. A few sets of aluminum bb heads went for cheap, saw some max wedge heads that were fresh that went cheap. I almost bought a full set of 6pk carbs that were mechanical for 350 bucks to, but I passed.  The wind was a biach, but the weather did hold back for quite a while. Every vender that pulled in late had like 50 people standing right on top of them as they unloaded their parts. It was a mini mopartopia for sales.  Russ got himself an 8 3/4 rear for his challenger with rebuilt axles, I believe Wade and Russ got a free Tee shirt.  We also took a late night cruise out to Daulphin Island up to the fort, but rain hampered any attempted to get out and tour the Island.
