Exhaust complaints
« on: September 23, 2004 - 09:50:05 PM »
;D  Just got a little story for you....on last Sunday I was meeting a friend so we could cruise to a car show together. Since i got to the meet point first (a gas station), and i figured he would be by any minute, i just let the car idle. My Cuda is a 472 Hemi with full 3 inch TTi exhaust, 2 chamber flowmasters out thru 3" inlet tips. Now this is around 9:30 AM Sunday. Well I'm there idleing about 10 minutes when this lady comes up to the car and asks if I'm waiting for someone...I say yes, I expect him any minute. She asks me if i can shutoff my car, as it woke up her grandkids who live across the street! (this is a 4 lane road) LOL...I appoligized and shut her down. I usually set off car alarms and such, but thats a first!  Lazy kids, they should be awake at 9:30 in the morning! LOL

I dare not fire my Challenger up after 22:00 at night, it's so loud. Two Glasspacks on each exhaust appearantly doesn't do anything to muffle the sound. :) I didn't get it through (AMV-ish) approval first time around because of the noise...  ;D
Unfortunately, today it's completely silent..  :'(

Due to the local constabulary, I have dual Turbo Mufflers, so unless the go-pedal is activated, it's a pretty quiet idle.  I had a bud with a '68 Chevelle 454 so mod'd that he was using  dump truck 5" exhaust pipes.  It was SO loud he had to use lexan windows so he wouldn't shatter the glass at full throttle!
