How many of you Challenger owners have had someone come up and feel obliged to tell you that they (or a buddy) once owned a '69 just like yours?

When I was shopping for my challenger I had called a Dodge dealer just outside of Calgary who told me he had one on the lot.  I drove down there only to have him try to sell me a 2009 Charger - he was assuming I wouldn't know the difference!

I get "charger" all the time too!

Back in the 90's, I had a really nice 72 Challenger, base model, flat hood, Corvette yellow. It had a monochromatic theme with no emblems.

I must have heard "nice cuda, dude" at least once a week for the four years I drove it.

I had Chargers and Challengers simultaneously for a long time and most people would ask "Is that a Charger or a Challenger?", so at least they knew there was a difference.

Never got asked about Mustangs or Camaros.
My name is Steve and I'm addicted to Challengers...

I have had my 318 for about 6 months. Everyones dad or brother has or had one.  In that time I think I have accounted for at lest half of the hemis in existence and come across the elusive 440 hemi once or twice.  If anyone out there wants to know where a mint 440 hemi is, I will get their contact info next time I run across one. I seem to be a magnet for 'em.

For a while in the 90's I had a orange 70 charger along with the plum 70challenger I still have. Sure enough the same people who saw me in the charger would say "nice charger" then the next day see me in the challenger and say "nice charger" :clueless:

I thought this was an isolated thing because I live in the middle of nowhere in WV,but after seeing this thread I guess its all over. Is it bad that it annoys the hell out of me most time?

I was driving my car over the day I got it to pull the drivetrain out and kind of see where I stood with the overall condition of the car and I stopped at a gas station. I had someone follow me the whole way to the gas station just to ask what it was. Then I pumped the gas and heard "Nice charger" from 3 diff people, and on my way back out from paying there was a guy leaning through the window looking inside, and TOUCHING my car and saying "thats a *****ing general lee" (its orange)

the things I heard the most when it was sitting in my lot by my apartment:

How much will you take for that
boy thats worth like 50k
nice charger
some guy has a camaro down there in that lot

I couldnt be outside without people stopping and asking about it, I would find cards on it saying "call this number, I want this car". A guy banged on my door one time and offered me $500 for it....what an insult

When I get a fresh coat of paint and get it all shined up I know it will be ten times worse...but hey its worth it  :2thumbs:
