It's been a long snowy winter, it sort of reminds me of South Park, you always see some snow on the ground here it seemed!
I tucked my '09 away December 1, I had intended to start it up a few times over the winter, but it was always cold and snowy out it seemed, so I never felt too motivated to start it up and pull it out in the driveway to let it warm up for a while.
I planned to reinstate the insurance April 1st and start driving it then, but over this neverending winter I finally had time to read my owners manual, and saw in it that you should do your first oil change before 6 months. I had less than 900 miles so I thought it was not necessary to change the oil yet when I parked it for winter.
This Sunday is my 6 month anniversary of buying it, and I was worried if I didn't get my first oil change by then, it might risk my lifetime powertrain warranty. My selling dealer had sent me a coupon for a free oil and filter change, the weather was forecast to be nice, and the idea of a 90 mile roadtrip to the dealer for that oil change this week really sounded like a good idea to me!
So I called up my insurance agent and told him to get my insurance back up to speed, and then this morning pushed the start button, hoping the battery hadn't run down over the last 3 months of non use. She fired up instantly!
The streets were bone dry and the 1-1/2 hour cruise to Wisconsin was a blast, while I enjoyed the boneyard station on the Sirius. After handing my Key fob to the service manager, I hung in the waiting room for a few minutes before deciding to go up to the showroom to check out what they had on display. I was pleased to see a plum crazy Challenger there, and as I was looking at it, Tony,the salesman who sold me my car, recognized me and we chatted a while. They also had a beautiful '67 Jeepster on display in the showroom. Tony said someone had traded it in on a new Wrangler because there was no way to attach a child seat in the back seat of the Jeepster! That Jeepster was the nicest one I've ever seen.
On the way home I hit the 1000 mile mark. I saw 3 other new Challengers on the road during my journey, but only 1 new Camaro.
It's supposed to rain in the next few days, and that should wash all the salt residue off the roads. All we need is some more warm weather, so I can get some more driving in! Spring is here, well.... almost!
Only negative is I can't any longer honestly claim my car has never seen snow! Never driven in snow, but as the last picture shows, it has seen it!
