They are a SOB................I'm just the right/wrong height, when I unexpectedly make initial contact it hits me right at the top of the forehead, then when natural reflexes say "duck stupid" it continues at least half way back on the top of my skull. I usually end up with a blunt puncture wound and a blood "line" the rest of the way back.  I get a contact and crease, many more times and brain surgery will be easy.

Not yet this season, I haven't pulled the cover off and popped the hood in 2010.  But soon!
I nailed myself pretty good last November though, while taking my radiator out to have it repaired prior to parking the car for the winter.  I had an appointment for a haircut a few days later and she was asking me what happened to my head!  Her husband used to be a mechanic so you'd think she'd have figured it out without asking!!

 I guess I'm lucky because I have a lift off fiberglass shaker hood!   ofcourse there are draw backs, hood wont fit under car at shows and it's too light to leave on the roof.

I have a T/A hood, so no latch for me, I have on my brothers Challenger a couple of times, definitely not high on my list of fun things to do with a car.

Been lucky so far but my dad used to sit down at the dinner table with those all the time.When asked what he hit his head on he never knew.I guess it happened so much he grew immune to the pain.Anyway it's just a safety latch so just pull it and pin it .
