Got the resistance down to .2 ohms between the battery terminal and the blue wire on the voltage regulator... still the same thing.
Swapped back to the other voltage regulator and it doesn't charge at all, put the one that I have in now back in and it overcharges!!!
What else is there to do?
I don' think the resistance is going to get any better. The lights and everything are way brighter now that it's charging, but I'm worried I'm going to cook the battery now that it's overcharging. I unplugged the green field wire and the alternator drops back down to the battery voltage, so it's not internally grounded, I'm thinking it must be the voltage regulator. If it was the resistance in the wire it would limit it still I'd think, so when it would over charge, but when I rev it, it would still be regulated to like 14 or 15, but when I rev it it shoots up to 19 volts! The ground on it is good. Any other ideas are greatly appreciated:) Thanks for everything so far!
