Udvar-Hazy Museum
« on: March 08, 2010 - 09:59:17 PM »
The Udvar-Hazy is an adjunct to the Smithsonian's Air and Space that has a bunch of full-scale aerospace exhibits. This was finished after I left Northern Virginia so I had never been there. Decided to take a trip a couple of weeks ago and here are some of the results.

First up, the Enola Gay:

This is as much of a Blackbird as I could fit into the frame, and this is an 11mm lens (for those of you who are photographers:

And, finally, one of my personal faves, the Enterprise:

Cool pics, Dave!  Thanks for sharing!   I've always wondered about some of the stuff there.

Love the shot of the Blackbird!  Looks like the Batmobile!

A guy I work with hung around with Paul Tibbets, the pilot of the Enola Gay.

If you're into aircraft another good museum to go to is the National Museum of the United State Air Force located in Dayton, Ohio on Wright-Patterson AFB.  If the air force flew it, it's there.  See link below.  I take my son there every year since he was 6 (now 15), missed this year due to funds.  Well worth the visit, there is a Imax there also, see Fighter Pilot if you go there.

See ya, Snowdoggie

I walked around tat plane for 20 mins looking for a good overall angle and just couldn't find one that I liked. I did some detail shots, but I figure those are more for art lovers  :)
