Thanks everyone.

I've had a lot of crappy jobs over the last 5 years. And all I ever wanted was to work for a reputable company that's recognized putting my skills to work.

The manager said it will take me a year learning curve before I'm dialed in.

I wonder if it was the pics of my Cuda I sent him yesterday that helped make his decision on hiring me.

Mike, Fremont, CA.

Congrats on the job Mike.

Whats your definition of cold? I have never been to St Paul in April, I live a couple hundred miles south of there and April can be hit or miss here.

Put it this way. I haven't felt temps under 40 degrees in over 8 years. I lived in the mtns. of Germany many years ago so I'll remember it once again if it does.

When I get up there, I would really like to go Walleye fishing at least once if I get the time. It's been on my catch list a long time.

And I live a couple hundred miles north of the Twin Cities. It might be the end of your 8 year streak.

:dogpile: Congratulations, see I told ya so.  :roflsmiley:  Yep ya better pack your long johny's  :smilielol:  And the pics of the work on the Cuda may very well helped, they figure if ya got the talent and grit to do that kind of work you should not have a problem working on basically new and clean equipment. Good luck Mike, fishing up there is great, I lived in Wisconsin for 6-7 years, about the only way to beat it is to go on a fly in up in Canada somewhere.

Mike,

Glad you landed a job. You are very fortunate during these tough times.

I have a buddy hear in KY that has been layed off for almost a year now.  He is a Manufacturing Engineer and everyone knows that manufacturing in the US is all going to China.  He is really having a difficult time finding a job.

I have heard that so many of our jobs have went to China that they are having trouble finding skilled labor to do the work over there.  So, they are just making there trained workers to start working two shifts now.  Think about how many people live in China and how many jobs that has to be.  Now think about how many people are unemployed in the US right now.

Sorry, I just start ranting when I think about how many people are out of jobs.

A very good point made. Next week, NUMMI factory shuts down. That's the factory that GM and Toyota joint ventured together years ago. 4,500 jobs lost.

This was by far the hardest job to get ever for me. I feel very fortunate and grateful. It won't be a bed of roses.

Once I hit 1 yr. I need to create 1 new account at least per month. I don't know yet how hard that will be. That's what the big man at the company wants.

First off, congratulations on your new job!!  A decent job is hard to come by more than ever now days so I know you're relieved.  I just got back from Milwaukee last week and for most of the week it was in the 50's during the day dipping into the 30's at night, not too bad really.  The last day I was there a cold front moved in, temps dropped 10-15 degrees and the wind made it feel even colder.  Still not as bad as it was during my last trip there in February when it snowed heavily and the lake was frozen as far out as you could see from the shoreline.  I can relate with the sales portion of your new position as well.  I'm in IT technical sales and we're supposed to be as much support as sales, however as the end-of-quarter & end-of-year deadlines approach, you pretty much forget about the support aspect and work to make your numbers.  You'll do OK, if the current Washington crowd doesn't kill the economy first it seems to be slowly recovering so things will hopefully have picked up in a year.

Did my physical today for the job. All kinds of crazy tests. Sit ups, legs extended for 45 seconds, walk on tip toes and heels, etc.

Then came the cough test...

I Failed it!!!    :22yikes: :banghead: :banghead:

Doc says you have a hernia.
Doc told me that I'm profiled now only lift 30 lbs. I lift up to a 100 sometimes by myself. No problem!

Company requires lifting 50 lbs. with no health issues. Now I need to convince HR in MN. headquarters I can get this fixed and it'll be no big deal. I won't know their feedback till at least Wednesday. I'm due to fly out to MN. this coming Sunday. So worried now I won't get the job.

Maybe they have other critera, better wear your heals, seriously though maybe you should get a second opinion from your doctor, these company medico's are not always the brightest, they err towards the company so they cannot be sued.   :faint:

there`s no way to know there is a hernia unless you had an MRI scan.  :nono:
