New fuel tank for 70 Challenger
« on: March 12, 2010 - 02:32:22 PM »
I was thinking about swapping my old fuel tank for a new one in my '70 Challenger.  Does anybody have any recommendations about where to go and what I need to get, as well as anything else that I might need to for it?  I appreciate anyone's help.

Call Dave at Roseville Moparts.  He's very knowledgeable and will hep you.  They are a site supporter and their prices are great.
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

I have seen where there are two replacement fuel tanks.  One is with ECU and the other is without ECU.  I was told that the difference is that one has 1 vent hose on the right side.  The other has 4 vent hoses on the right side.  I have tried to look at my tank while it is still in my car.  The only thing I can see on that side is the filler neck.  Can anyone offer any help?

Does type of car and engine make any difference?  My car is a '70 SE that originally had a 318.  As far as I know, my car was never a California car, so it most likely did not have the emissions stuff on it.

I appreciate any insight.

if your heat shield are in you may not be able to see. In the right side of the trunk do you have a tube looping up and down or do you have a large pipe coming up from the floor.  if you have just the small tubing it is a one vent, if you have the large pipe looking vent, then its a 4.

The only thing I can recall off-hand from looking in the trunk is the filler tube (where the fuel flows from the outside down into the tank).  That is probably not what you are referring to, though, or is it?

I have the N95 and noticed someone just looped the nipples at the tank. Should I just use rubber hose to connect to the tube in the trunk? I just want funcionality , originallity isen't important.  Does it mater what hoses go where?
Thanks Brad
