Getting rid of cat smell

My interior has been comfortably resting in the upstairs of my dads shop for the last 3 years. The problem is the drivers seat bottom. Everything else either had something on it or was stowed where a cat could not get to it. I dont think it is urin because there is no stain and there was some hair on the seat. When I went and got them today the one seat bottom that was exposed smells like cat....bad. I think a cat or 5 has been using it for a bed. Anyone know of a way to get the smell off the material?
 The seats were recovered with a more modern style of material and not vinyl. I would like to save these seats as it would be that much less I would have to buy for my daughters car. Any tips on how to get the smell out without taking the cover off would be greatly appreciated. I guess if I must I will pull the cover and wash it in the washing machine unless that is a no-no.

I think this is what we used some time ago on carpet...You soak the area, leave to dry, smell goes bye bye.

Febreze works sometimes as well.

  and since it is just the bottom,,I would consider soaking it in a light cleaner(nothing harsh) with hot water,seat foam an all,and hang it up to dry,,maybe use a blow dyer or heat gun and dry it slowly,,I say this because the smell is  probably in the foam too,,also its not hard to remove the cover on the seat bottom its self,,I did my own seats when recovered,,the bottom was easy,, it has hog rings that secure the material over the foam an bottom,,its easy to stretch back on an secure the hog rings,,use a heat gun to keep it pliable and reuse the hog rings,,just take your time when removing

Thanks for all the replies guys. I will definitely use one of the suggested methods. I guess I can tell on myself. I was thinking about just slipping the white covers over the seats as they are since the pattern is the same. Its probably not a good idea though and is a shortcut I should be ashamed of

I fought that battle in my basement 10 years ago when I bought the house.

One wall and carpet was (apparantly) soaked in cat urine at one time....

Tried all the liquids etc to neutralize it....ended up removing that section of carpeting and laying down wood laminate.....after sealing the concrete.  Sealed and repainted the wall.

Its mostly gone...but to this day I smell the familiar smell...usually when its humid outside and we dont have the AC on yet.

Hope it works out for you...but that stuff is nasty.

I used the stuff Bullitt suggested on skunk smell after my dog got sprayed. Got rid of the smell completely.

EASY to recover. i would pull the old covers.
