Keisler Issue (for a friend)
« on: March 16, 2010 - 02:29:44 PM »
Friend has the Keisler set-up behind his 440.  When they did the install, the clearance from the throw-out bearing to the clutch was just a little greater than the 5/16" spec.  Now that it's got a few miles, the clearance has increased and the transmission has started grinding going into reverse.

Any ideas?

The grinding into reverse is a clutch adjustment issue.  With the throw out bearing that far out the clutch is not in full release when the pedal is depressed.  Remember that reverse is not synchro'd like the forward gears are.  Adjust the TO bearing is to 1/4" and try it there.  You will tell a difference in the pedal feel at the time of release.
The adjustment is easy with the thread rod and balls leading to the clutch fork.
