map light
« on: September 29, 2004 - 10:30:04 AM »
Hey guys... Ive owned this car for atleast 5 years now.. and im still discovering new things about it. I just recently started to care about OE and resto stuff.

anyhow.. I was installing a dash cap cover in my cuda. In my console i found the bezle for a map light. Its a little crome thing and it says "map light" on it. I know what you are thinking. "you've owned this car for how many years and just found this thing?" but to be honest there is alot of little trinkets in my console that I have just left in there and never really went through any of it, passing it all off as junk.

so my question is, where does this little bezle go? does someone have a pic of one mounted?

I do but I'll have to go and uncover the car to get a pic!  Anyone have one handy?

Jleilich, if it was an a/c car, there's a long lower dash plastic piece that covers up some of the excess a/c components that are tucked under the dash assembly.  If it wasn't an a/c car, I'd guess it just went somewhere on the metal portion of the dash frame.  But I'll let someone else confirm that location first. ;) :P

I don't know if there is a different location for AC, and non-AC. Here is a HUUUUGE picture of my AC car. I believe this will give you a good idea. Mine mounts up into a plastic panel, as was stated.

I have a follow up to this old question.  I have the map light toggle switch mounted under the dash, but where is the map light supposed to be?

The switch and the light socket are right next to each other. It's all the same fixture.

We were just tracing the instument cluster wires - and I saw an empty connecter that we had labeled Igntion and Map light.  but we dotn remember a map light.  would the connecter be there if not light... is that an option on build sheet only... ?
