Put leds in my 72+ lights, luckily they are round, so trailer lights worked. I'd imagine finding something premade would work for your 71s. Mine cost $50 for both lights, installed.
I refurbished my own 71 Cuda taillights. I purchased all new lenses, and bezels from PGClassic.com. I'm happy with how they turned out:
