***Best $25 I've Spent on Audio***

Went Dash Diving today to install a new toy... Parametric Equalizer.. Low end brand Power Acoustic PMW-70.. Back in the late '70s a couple of buddies had these & their systems sounded great so I've always wanted to try one... I see all kinds of bulky high priced equipment that I'm sure would be better but for 25 bucks I recon the bang for the buck can't be matched.

   Equalizers give you more control over the sound shape breaking the bands up more than the standard base treble control...this one controls the front & rear speakers separately as well as base volume..this only works if your running separate amps for each.

     Determined that under the ashtray was the only feasible spot but the vent knobs are in the way.....

    Made a bracket out of a scrap of stainless relocating the vent knobs out & back..also brought the equalizer flush with the bottom of the dash rather than hanging down...Used existing holes to mount the bracket.

I'm liking the style, the colour and most of all the price tag !!

Does it have any slave amp or is it just an equaliser?

I have a similar thing on the Mustang which is a slave amp as well, but it doesn't do back and front separately.

I had something like that back in the day. Was as 12 band equalizer, fader and separate left and right volume. About the same price too. Mine was supposed to have been a 250W booster (I seriously doubt it ever reached that level). A friend who was an EE helped me install it. Years later, when I was pulling out my carpet, I found little bits of solder all over the carpet where he had had oopsies

I see also it has a "CD/AUX" socket - how does that line up with the main amp?

Could it be a good solution to all these "how do I put an ipod in my E-body?" questions.

I have my ipod running an FM transmitter, but over here they are going to change all the radio stations to digital soon, so sooner or later I will have to make alternative arrangements (or have a digital and an FM set in the car).

You would not have an overall volume control It does have a master volume & fader(where was my brain?) but the AUX is there for a second LOW LEVEL RCA plug source. There may be an iPod connector that would allow you to use the iPods volume control and if your using an OE radio you would need a LOW LEVEL converter.....I have seen those. You get 3-OUT circuits from 1or2 IN sources & you need amps for each circuit you use. 

If your having to change radios just do like I did...get one that has the adapter built in.

No amp on this one...there are some that say they do but for the price I don't think you get much.

Yea that's what my buddies had...back then there was hardly anything like we have today...The equalizers back then were called graphic this one is parametric I really don't know the differences...ck here if you need more info.  http://equalizers.indepthinfo.com/
