  Which story was that, if I may ask? :dunno:  I thought the initial post referred to a '70 that was stolen from someone's car port & was going to say it's good to see he finally received it.

the 28 years stolen recovered in lincoln ne.  story was " A challenge to find the challenger of youth " . some of the post were not sure if it was really stolen ect ect... but i can assure you the story is true . the news paper was off a small ammount on a few numbers , but most all else was exact. it was to big to print in the paper really !

Welcome to here! Can you post a shortcut to the thread you are mentioning? I vaguely remember a thread about a car that was stolen long ago and just resurfaced. Dont remember all the details but congrats on getting your car back! What are the details of the theft and recovery?

Thanks for the clarification & that's really great that you got the car back after such a long time!  It's almost hard to believe that the V.I.N. was never swapped with another one during the time the thieves had possession of it. (it's good they apparently weren't that smart to do so ;) )  Glad to hear it's back with the rightful owner once again & that's quite the story to go along with a cool E-body. :grinyes: :2thumbs:

i think they were waiting for enough time to pass by in hope that no one would care or try to fight for it . changing the vin is a felony. they would look guilty no matter what with that deal . changing the tag and looks some what would only make it more complicated to prove it was the same car ! in fact thats what they tried with me! they claimed  'it probly isn't even the same car because it differed from my cars origional description!! christopherson said so in an interveiw!! never mind that it had a red flag alert on the title which changed hands and states 4 times .  would you pay 45K for a car and not get the title put in your name? at least check it's status? if you are a " big mopar dealer " and a legal dealer you would file title/ dealer assignment papers right?  the so called  legend of this car was started in 71 when it was new! those cars were so fast that they made everyone take notice. all the local service dept guys still talk about it ! i never thought it would make the front page news in 09! finding and recovering this car was like the thrilla in minilla!
