Interior reassembly order?
« on: March 24, 2010 - 10:13:32 AM »
OK guys, I'm finally gonna do the interior on my 73, parts are on the way(thank's Dave) & I wanna make sure I don't do everything 2 or three times, pretty sure I can do the carpet & headliner first, then I get a little fuzzy.
when does the package tray go in, the interior trim go on, the quarter & door panels, well the door panels shouldn't matter much but the quarter ones, before rear window trim or after, or does it matter, I'm sure a lot of you guys have done this, so a general order list would help a ton, then when I screw up I can ask as I go, even though I now have 10 years experiance it's STILL my first full rebuild!  Thanks,Rich.

Add a spacific question(or 2) Here.
wire clamps on floor, found 2 locations in my tear down pics, got 3 more to locate & check the seat belt harness, pretty sure it goes under the console mt over the hump, that look correct?

where the wires come around the brace for quarter window, on floor or over the brace through that clip, theres a clip like that on the other side & no wires so I think its a support for the interior panel? Rich.

Well here's the order I would suggest having done mine last year:

1)  do any soundproofing you have planned

2)  get all the wires in the right place

3)  make sure you know where you are going with all your seat belts, but don't fit them yet

4)  fit the headliner and any sail panel trims paying attention to where the seat belt mounts are (maybe chalk them on the h/l)

5)  fit the front and rear window trims and the trims over the door opening

6)  fit the carpet and the parcel shelf - this is a good time to make the holes you need in the carpet for the middle seat belt buckles as later you won't be able to feel around under the carpet

7)  fit the back outer front seat belt anchors and the 1/4 panel trims together.

8)  fit the door panel trims so you can make sure they don't hit the rear 1/4 trims when you shut the door.

9)  fit the console (if you got one)

10)  fit the rest of the seat belt anchors

11)  fit the seats

12)  sit on the seats and fit the rear view mirror, visors and courtesy light.

13)  open the beer

- did I forget anything ?

Hey that's funny - the machine changed my number eight into a "cool" icon
