steering shaft
« on: March 24, 2010 - 10:45:53 PM »
I have run into a problem and probably made it worse :banghead:.  Iwas rebuilding the coupler on my steering shaft (70 challenger).  Got everything off and went to remove the pin through the center of the shaft, in doing so i braded the pin.  I thought it just knocked out it moved a bit and stopped.  got really frustrated and cut the pin on one side, looked like it may have been bent a little.  I hope in my frustration I haven't messed this up.  Is there something I am missing?  Does it press on and off or what? Please help!!!  Thanks Danny  (I hated to admit what I did on line)

Mine came out with few taps of a hammer using an old drill bit as a drift... Soaked it good with penetrating fluid first......I had an issue with the roll pins in the struts....after cutting them I had to drill out, roll pins are hardened, made for some colorful language.

I did the same thing you did.  I had to have mine pressed out.
