Cool thanks for posting your picture! I'd like to see the step lip version too?  Post an update when you get one? I looked every where ( I thought) before I bought 15" minilite knock offs. I would have been happy with 16" -18" max to get better rubber.

I was a big fan of the minilites back in the day and its hard to see the originals when I look at the new wheels.  That said, they're still plenty good looking wheels on that early Camaro!  I'd really like to see a more truer interpretation in 17 or 18" wheels to combine the classic TransAm racing looks with more modern rubber.  THAT would be cool!

...and better accellerating and better motion control, which translates to lighter springs and shock rates, which can keep tires in contact with the road better.

That is one of the problems of the plus size wheel craze is that they keep getting heavier and heavier, which is why they have to continue to hog out more and more material to try and keep weight down.

One of sports racer magazines did a wheel size comparison not too long ago on a BMW M3. All things being equal in tires and suspension,  as the wheel size went up was so did lap times. Now you can tune around that, but like I said above, but your then stepping things up, which means more expense or your settling for less performance.

those are real good points, not to mention that the tire price does up too. I bought the big wilwood brake kit and was told I had to go with at least an 18 inch rim for fitment. P.s.imncarn8 i  your ride

That's an excellent point, but the baseline steel wheels aren't exactly light weight to start with.... and then you have wheels like the Cragar S/S and Keystone Klassic... talk about heavy...

I always try to compare weights when I'm shopping for wheels and tires. Lighter=Better.... but don't lose sight of load rating either.

just a quick update in hot rod magazine this month some guy named george poteet is having made some minilites in larger sizes. After his car is done(by rad rods by troy) he is gonna sell the molds to an unknown wheel company.

I saw that, and his design is the most authentic to original minilites I've seen in any of the plus size wheels.

FWIW, original 15" Minilites are still available from the original manufacturer. They will do custom widths and backspacing for no extra $$ because they are all custom made to begin with. I  seem to recall and set of 4 was in teh neighborhood of $1200-1400 delivered from England. Not as cheap as most 15" and comparable to a lot of 17", but they unique and are real minilites.

15x8 Optima Minilite look a likes
