Knowing then what I know now, I probably could have got the chrome ram portion off with my fingers, I didn't realize it had some protrusions that slid in two tabs that were toward the bottom of the black rubber piece.
I found that the black rubber piece was sort of a pain to remove. I didn't have a plastic tool like shown in the video to slide underneath it to pry, but I remembered I had a plastic tool from a local crabhouse for cracking crab legs, so I used that! I pried and one tab popped out of the nose pretty easily with a load bang. But the other side was a pain, I yanked on the plastic piece with a lot of force, and the tab did not want to come out. The tab started showing stress marks where it attached to the rest of the black piece, and I was pretty sure it was going to break off. Finally I decided what was done was done, and if the black piece was going to get destroyed, so be it. I pulled with both hands and finally the second tab popped out without it tearing off the rest of the black base piece.
I don't know how one could get their finger under that black piece to pry it loose unless your fingers are only about 1/8" thick!
