Outstanding.  I sure wish the Easter Bunny would have brought me sheet metal for Easter.  Have fun putting everything back together.

Got the Firewall fitted without to much hassle, then set the inner fenders and radiator support in place to see how everything would mesh together, looks nice! Had do do some slight modifications to the floor pan to get it to reach the rockers...weird! The seat holes lined up perfectly on the mounts but the lip came up about a half inch short from the rockers themselves...nothing a little hammer work couldn't fix though.... She's welded in now!!! I should ask, what's the secret to plug welding??? :dunno: I got it to work okay, but were the welds really ugly at first (and yes, I did practice before hand...)

Plug welding;  I have a video of a goodmark guy demonstrating this. He starts at the outside lip of the hole, goes all the way around the outside edge, then stops in the middle to finish the center.  One quick circular motion.

If you have the right heat and speed setting, the weld is almost flush.   I also sometimes use a tool from Harbor Freight that looks like a type of vice grips that put a copper back plate under the piece being welded to. Then the welder can be truned way up and you get your 100% fusion without any burn through.

Make sure top an bottom pieces are always touching frimly or the top metal burns away.

After 2 knee surgery's in 2011 I took some time off on the car. Now that I'm finally starting to feel better, and my brother in law is back from the Army to help me out, we're off and running. Check it out.... Front end completely welded in and POR 15'd. Just started carefully cutting out the rest of the trunk pan and lower rear quarters this past weekend.

Enjoy,
Gator

Rear quarter slicing.... Taking a little off at a time just to see what's left underneath. Not as bad as I had initially thought!

Welcome back to the resto
Hope your knee is doing well.
Looking at you pics, and comparing them from the first posts, you’re making very good progress.
It’s nice to see all that new metal.
