    Which one would you take?

    Here's the deal:
    Two identical spec car, 340 4 speed, both rallye, one is ready the other is in pieces.
    The price is different of course, one being 10K more, but its ready.....
    Let says the buget is 18K, what would you do? Take home the project, by about 12K of new stuff and take the restoration, or take home the turn key car and leave it as-is?

    Car number one:
    1973 Challenger Rallye 340, 4 speed, paint redone, excellent shape, redy to rock and roll!
    17.9K nego, need little interior work

    or

    Car number two:
    1973 Challenger Rallye 340, 4 speed, stripped, need some rust repair, not too bad, pretty much complete car,  no emission or inspection to pass, mant spare parts, belong to my freind, price between 6-8K

    Yeah, Red one, fully documented, tags, buildsheet etc....

    the other as nothing, atleast that i'm aware of for sure, I think he might still have the tags...

    Buy number 1. Car 2 will cost more to finish. 6 - 8K for a project like that is a joke, thats the old prices. Everything has dropped in value!!

    Unless you own a resto shop, it is almost always cheaper to buy a done car than fix one.  The problem is finding a car done exactly or almost exactly how you would build it.  In this case, since the cars are roughly the same, I think you are much better off buying the done car if the quality of the restoration is acceptable to you.

    as long as the turnkey really needs no serious effort anywhere (i.e., engine is good, trans is good, suspension is good) I'd go with the turnkey.

    WHERE DO YOU LIVE?im in south carolina and cars like the red one go for maybe 10k and if its a 318 car they had one in the local paper with 110k miles on it for 7000 or best offer and the only reason i wanst interested in it was it was all brown,clean car though..i would look around for i buy..people needing money and letting cars go for good prices

    I'm far from California  :stomp:, I'm 5 minutes from Ottawa Canada!
    I'm looking localy first, then USA.
    Shipping/Custom taxes raise the price quickly...even if you hav better price for the car itsefl,  need to count an extra 3-6K to get it here and pay for all the documentations/fees involve...

    aww man i didnt know thats where your at..i got a guy that has a 440 r/t 4 speed car looks brand new inside and out,bottom price on the car is 19,000 and its a 70 here is a pic

    Price is pretty decent for a 440 70' 4 speed.

    For this next car, i'm not into numbers matching stuff, I want to have a good driver.

    It will have taken almost three years and double the estimated cost, but the project I bought is built exactly the way I want it.  With prices the way they are now, I would definately find a turn-key.

    Offer 18k for both :bigsmile:    14k and 4k .    So you are talking canadian bucks?   I am with most of the top posters.  Buy n drive if it looks good under neath and inside. But you need to try n bring the price down somemore
