With all the wrecked new Challenger pictures I have seen posted online, I wonder if the accident rate of them is higher than average?
I'm worried if the rate is high that insurance rates will be going up on them! :1zhelp:
I saw a ebay listing for a nice black 2010 classic R/T a few weeks ago with less than 1000 miles IIRC, that was wrecked and had a salvage title.  It had front end damage but it didn't look too bad.  The air bags weren't even blown.  I couldn't understand why it was totalled??

how can you compare that? As long as it is not your car. Insurance rates based on demographics , age , and vehicle.

looks are decieving, if the under belly is torn out then it could be,

I found the listing for that wrecked classic R/T.  Only 480 miles.  Why is this totalled, it is a 35,000 new car, insurance determined that it couldn't be repaired for less than it is worth??
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300404726947
Needs some front sheetmetal, some framework, radiator and a few other mechanical items. Not pretty, but it really doesn't look that bad?
I'd hate to be the guy that wrecked that car with less than 500 miles.  I would guess his friends and family will never let him forget that one!

ins usely will go up to half of what a car is worth to fix it and then they just total it so in this case 18k or so,i would think you could fix it for that much but it also looked liked the frame was bent and some times that cant be fixed.and some times the owner dont want it fixed, they think the car will never be the same

Its a shame that some people think like that.  :(  Im currently going to school for frame repair and its amazing how things can be brought back within specs. If I had money I would buy one of these and bring it back.

how can you compare that? As long as it is not your car. Insurance rates based on demographics , age , and vehicle.

Not entirely correct. Insurance companies have actuarial tables on each vehicle and their options. The tables include statistics on what percentage of these vehicles are involved in accidents, what the average damage is, average cost to fix, etc. That's why they ask for the VIN # whenever you ask for an insurance quote. That lets them zero in on what their exposure will be on that vehicle based on that models track record. For example, if you can find a vehicle that comes in both turbo-charged and non-turbocharged models, the turbocharged version will be more expensive to insure, even if the price difference between the two is not very much. That's because the turbo-charged version will have a higher accident potential. Then they factor in the demographics and your own personal factors.

sure,  it`s possible to pull everything back to specs, but how will it hold up when the car is involved in another crash?  I`m pretty sure it will not be as strong as it used to be...  :dunno:  for daily drivers I`d pass on a car that suffered framedamage.
