    Hi all,
    I'm restoring a '73 Cuda, with a '76 360... nothing perfect or anything but hope to have a really nice driver.

    The headers are a bit rusty so I pulled the off today. It seems the headers I have are Patriot H8205...

    It will cost me $225 to have these ceramic coated, it it worth it ? I could try to coat them myself or possible buy a new set...

    What do ya'll think ?

    do they fit well , do they go under the steering link ?
    are the dented ?
     Need more info , if they go under the steering I would replace them or if the fit is bad , most headers limit access to the 5&7 plugs, Dougs & TTI are better but will cost you more

    I,like many have the headers that go under the steering link. I would certainly not dump a dollar into a set of headers that go around the link. I will be spending good money on headers that don't drag the ground next time.

    You can get a new set or Patriots already ceramic coated for $330...don't think I'd bother coating to old ones....how did they fit?, maybe just clean em up & paint....
    I put the cheaper Hooker Competition model on, biggest problem is they do have the pass through steering linkage which costs ground clearance, other wise no fitment issues...2-plugs are a pain as CP pointed out.

    Yea, these are shorties so they don't go under the linkage, not dented and fit good, as far as I can tell...

    Thought about it a bit last night and I'm just gonna paint them for now and get a set of Hooker Super Comps later

    I just have to throw a plug in for Dougs....

    LOVE mine.

    I balked at first about the extra cost....but ease (relative) of install, look, sound and clearance have me very happy....quality is awesome and I have never looked back on that purchase and second guessed it.

     :iagree: I too have Doug's and couldn't be happier although I can't advise on small block fitment as I have a big block, but the fit and quality are superb. I think the only better would be TTI and they do cost more than Doug's.

    Hooker Super Comp's #5115, best fitting header on a small block 'Cuda without doing a custom set..
    1 3/4" tube,  3" collector, 35" long..
    With or without power steering , Auto or 4spd... #5 & #7 plug wires no problem, don't need a oil filter adapter either...

    No complaint's here, both sides OVER the drag link....

    That's what I've read elsewhere here... so is it worth the extra to get the ceramic coated ?

    hey matt how is the coating holding up?did you have to beat on them any?

    Absolutely, I wouldn't buy another set of uncoated headers for any amount of money.  I couldn't stand the way headers immediately rusted back in the 70's and how they generally rusted through in 4-5 years.  I've had a set of coated Hookers on my Roadrunner for over 10 years and although they've dulled a bit they otherwise still look like new.  No comparison.

    I have Doug's headers on a 318/904 73 Barracuda and a 340/4 speed 70 Challenger.  They fit great.  I did not need to "massage" any of the tubing to make them fit.    You have to use a mini-starter, but you can install it with the headers installed.

    I wasnt able to install the ministarter I got with the header installed  (318/727)....have to loosen it.  :swear:

    The coating looks fine. Like it did when I installed them. No beating involved although they are very close to the power steering pump.
