Repop bumper question
« on: April 05, 2010 - 10:39:34 AM »
So I am beginning to put "bumpers" on my radar.

My car is a 72, but has 70/early 71 bumpers (no slots)......

Looking on ebay, I see a guy named "Tamaraz" selling them for what appears a good price...$251 shipped.

Anyone here buy a bumper from him?

I haven't bought from him, but have heard of him. Didn't hear anything bad. I bought a bumper from Dave @ Roseville for about the same price.

for that price he is selling AMD rejects.  they are almost driver quality,We had about 60 of the AMD E-body bumpers and I QC'D them and returned them ALL.  I have almost show chrome quality for 295.00 per bar.

I bought front and rear bumpers from YO.
Very nice looking bumpers and they fit w/o any issues.
My only concern is that they weigh about half that of the originals.
Don't know if that's a good thing or not.
Also got the bumper bolts - they're great.
Hope that helps.

I like my YO bumpers too, with the 25% off not too bad.

I guess my memory was a bit off on the price, but I can vouch for the "show quality". They are very nice.

Hey Dave

Does that include shipping or is that just the bumper?

I guess its a subjective thing...what qualifies it as "almost" show quality versus not?

For the front I think I am stuck buying a new one, but my rear is nice enough where it could be rechromed....its an original so probably "heavy".....I havent priced rechroming though....

Hey Dave

I am ready to buy a front bumper....I believe I need a 70-71.(My car is a 72 but has no slots)

Year One is giving 15% off bumpers with the ebody sale code....with shipping I am looking at $278.

Can you match that price for the "almost show chrome, non reject" versions you are talking about, and can you ship it out today ? I like the idea that you are QC them prior to shipping and would rather buy from "the little guy" if you can.

Sounds funny.   Calling Dave a little guy and asking him to do more for less on an over sized package to.  Take no offense.  15 buck difference in assurance for qc.

More like $50 difference out-the-door. Thats why I am asking.

I expect QC from ANY vendor I buy from.  Vendors SHOULD QC before they ship stuff. Not sure where in the process we as consumers lost site of that. If there were an issue I would expect them to make it right whether its Year One or Roseville or whoever. What I meant is that Dave at Roseville is double checking the bumpers prior to shipping and he seems to care....obviously he got some bad units from his vendor and he caught them before they went out to his customers.  thats good for his customers, but good for him as well since it saves time, hassle and reputation.

I see nothing wrong with trying to save $50 for an item when others have had a good experience with products from both vendors, who are also both sponsors of this website (right?).

Dave, you can reply via PM if that is better for you. I probably should have asked that way to begin with.  Sorry if I put you in an uncomfortable situation.

Moparal, PMd you.
