What Newer Economy Sedan Do You Have. Good/Bad

I'm looking for a Reasonably Priced(relatively) Family Size Sedan that gets Maximum Fuel Economy & Decent Performance.....What are your Service Experiences on newer, less than 6-yr old, models.

I'll chip in I guess. Wife has a 07 Caliber (same running gear as an Avenger or Sebring I believe?) 2.0L with the CVT trans. No real 'performance', gets a consistent 25-26mpg with her driving it. Been a good car so far at 45k. No issues. 'Cheap'.

have an 06 charger with the 3.5l it's the wife and kid mover it's been a good car a couple small issue's had to replace the cooling fans last year. and the clock spring behind the steering wheel is squeking but it gets good gas mileage for such a heavy car. it has 70,000 on it now.

Well its a bit smaller than a sedan but I had an SRT-4 neon that got me better than 30 mpg hwy and it was good for a high 13 quarter mile. I think sedan + performance + economy aren't going to come easy, you are going to have to sacrifice somewhere and i have a feeling it is going to be the perfomance.

I was going to recommend the Ford Fusion, but I don't think it gets 30 MPG.  Not aware of too many 'family sized' sedans that do unless your family is a whole lot smaller than mine.  I used to get high 20's on the highway with a 95 TA six speed and a 2003 Corvette six speed but doubt they'd pass either the cheap or family aspects you're looking for.  I wish you luck as well!

If you think a newer Chevy Cobalt SS can fit the wife and (two kids tops) kids - then I would STRONGLY recommend that.

My car is tuned to 20psi turbo boost (stay away from the supercharged ones, they are doggies) and STILL gets 30 mpg on the highway when I am not into it.

The car runs 13's at the track and I drive it to work 70 miles round trip every day.

I can't say one bad thing about the car at all.

The only thing is, they are not making them in sedan form in 2010. My 2009 in Imperial Blue is one of less than 100 made. But it already has 37k miles on it.

Great commuter car that can whip some bigger car's a$$es....

30 plus & proformance, quite an order, I've got the 07 charger,bigger 6(actually better by 2 mpg then the smaller 6) 27mpg & it goes when you goose it, my son is bout 6' already(only 14) & fits fine in the rear.
& the damn thing looks good, you won't get that elsewhere!  Rich.

My wifes car is a 2008 Nissan Altima. Performance is good. It has an CVT tranny and in the neighborhood of 40 mpg - canadian gallons are 20% bigger.
No service issues. Will spin the tires every time you start out if you are not easy on the pedal. Makes it a little more difficult to drive in the snow. Probably not an issue for you southerners

Diesel is about your only option.. Not sure if it's setup at all like a BMW, but if it takes urea fluid and such like the Bimmers..That will suck!

The 2010 Volkswagen Golf TDI requires ultra low sulfur diesel (ULSD) fuel, and is rated to accept a B5 (5%) biodiesel blend. The Golf TDI does not require exhaust after-treatment (urea) fluid.

Urea fluid is injected into the exhaust stream on the BMW diesels for emissions purposes. It needs to be drained and filled, needs to be serviced every oil change, you can run out of it and the vehicle won't restart (it warns you before)...but it's just a pain in the ass if you ask me. definitely a plus the tdi doesnt need it

I have a Mini Cooper.  Gets 30 mpg and is a total blast to drive.
