Motor is coming along slowly. I need to buy some head studs to bolt heads down now. Also a couple of black wrinkle finish rocker covers  :bananasmi The $$$ just keeps flowing out the door  :ylsuper:

Looks good!  Is that air cleaner going to stay on?  Why do you need head studs?  What is wrong with head bolts.  I think I remember hearing that it is better to run head bolts on a street application.  I think it was something to do with not being able to remove your head when the engine is in the car.

The air cleaner was put there by the mechanic to look good  :clapping: Im told the studs hold way better and more accurate than bolts?? I would rather stay with the bolts to save $$$$$ Im just going on the mechanics recommendations.

with the hp your engine will be makeing the studs are over kill, arp bolts will work for a long time and alot less money. 440 source has bolts that are ARP they re alot less and dont come with the stickers wich make the price less. just my 2c

I would not run head studs in a street engine , you cannot remove the heads easily

Thanks for the advice guys. I questioned my mechanic about head bolts and he was real keen on the studs! So i thought well hes building it so i will go with what he wanted...... I should have the arp studs here tomoz as they are coming from Sydney. Yes they did cost a lot,but i do feel better going that way

the studs are a great investment , just might have to remove the engine to get the heads off .
if every thing goes as planned youll have a great engine to play with

Hi everyone. Ive been reading up and talking to a few guys about the oil side of my motor. For best oiling i should drill out the pick up hole in the block to 1/2 inch and fit a high volume pump. Im also concerned about the standard sump having enough oil to keep up?? I plan to drag the chall a few times a year and have lots of fun on the streets. The motor is together which is a bummer for drilling!!
Anybody have any ideas???

FWIW, Tear it all down and drill for the pickup, but with a close to stock motor I wouldn't think that you would benefit too much from this mod. I would not tear the motor down if it was me.  :bigshades:
If I cant fix it, it's broke
