looks like an 8cyl K-member.
Take a pic of the the I.D. plate on the leading edge drivers side. It is tacked onto the k-member like a dog tag for I.D. purposes.

Then I can tell you for sure what it is! ;D

don't see a tag of any kind, or any numbers pressed into the front edge. is that where it always is?

Guess what!
The I.D. tag is not where it is supposed to be.

Definitely  a V-8 K, not a 6pk one though.

70-74 V8 K frames are all identical, even the 6Pak ones with the exception of the hemi, there is a number on the front that designates a 6pak K frame but it is identical to the 318 K frame. If you are building a correct numbers matching car, the number will be important, if not, use it in anything but a hemi.  :D

just to clarify the 6 pack K frame has the skid pad to protect the pan wleded to the bottom of the K frame , other than that it is identical to the other V8 K frames

Exactly why I said not a 6pk one.
