removing dash from car!!

its a 71 cuda and im making a list of things and the order i want to do this resto..so i got something that i have never removed before..i have took everthing out of a demon,but it was a race car,so wiring was not a issue..now whats the easiest way to remove the dash,i want to take it out and change color and check the fire wall to make sure its not bad under there why im taking my car down this far!!

small bolts at the defroster vents.Drop/pull the column.One bolt on each side.Dis-connect the wiring clips n' stuff and pull it out. Pretty easy actually.  I'm sure some will chime in. I'm no expert.   It's way easier with the windshield out. But can be done by midgets with small hands.   Comes out just like the Demon if it had a factory dash.    R/T

When I took mine out, (windshield still in) I used a wrench with a socket that could be tilted on one end to get the front bolts out near the windshield. I tried alot of different ideas and this one seemed the best way to get at em.
Also need to drop the steering column down of course.

ok well thx for the info,so pretty much it comes off in one piece then?is it a rats nest back there?or can you pull it all out,wires,heaterbox,etc pretty easy?

If you remove the studs that hold the steering column to the dash, you can remove the dash without pulling the column by loosening the two bolts at the base where it attaches to the firewall adapter. Unbolt the fusebox from the firewall, unplug the harness fron the engine compartment, and disconect the rear harness from behnd the drivers side kick panel. There will be some plugs here and there to disconnect as well, blower motor, door switches, speedo cable, vent controls etc. The heater box stays in the car. It's possible to get the defroster vent bolts with a long 1/4" extension, ratchet and 1/4" drive 3/8" wobbly socket (has universal built into it).
70 Cuda, 7.0L Gen-III Hemi, Viper T56 w/9310 gearset, 3.91's, Megasquirt MS3x v3.57, Innovate wideband, Firm Feel upper arms, torsion bars, springs and strut rods, QA1 DA shocks. I did everything on this car except the fancy paint stuff and I drive it...and I can't seem to stop messing with it....

thx ntstlgl1970 for the info,oh and i love the ride man sweet..atleast there is enough guys on here thats done it,if i get into any problems..was yours bad behind your dash?
