Will this steering wheel work on an ebody?
« on: April 10, 2010 - 12:19:03 PM »
This is on FABO and I was wondering if it will work on an ebody?
Are they the same from abody to ebody?

Yepper! The bolt pattern is the same. Just use your accordian type extension. (Crush can)

That looks like one of the later ones with the leather wrap. They are dyeable and don't twist up like the regular black ones.

I would use the wheel with the adapter as shown in the picture.  Puts the steering wheel a little further away from the driver then the stock E body one which is more  comfortable IMO.

(That's what I have in my '74)

If I REALLY wanted one, I'd pay as much as $100.

Don't get your hopes up on the adapter. These wheels also came on Dodge Trucks and the splines are different.

I believe all car adapters are interchangeable. (A/F/B? body)

The wheel bolts right up. Josh, use your crush can, the a bodies crush in the column, the e body crush can will put the wheel in a comfortable position anyways.  If you can grab that wheel for 100 bucks with the pad on it, that is a very good deal to me.  I know you want red, I'd go 150 for it if I wanted it and the foam is tight

Glad to hear it.  That is what I offered.
I think his price is too high for me now.
This would be my first red interior part.
Havn't seen many.
Lost a few on ebay.

I have one of these from a '70 roadrunner, and it's a nice feeling wheel, but I find it blocks the gauges too much when you use the stock E-Body crush can.

Watch out for the adapter, the B-Body one I have has grooves all the way around the inside of the adapter, but later e-body columns (I think 72-74) have a small ungrooved portion which means it won't fit. Ended up taking mine off and going back to the 2-spoke.

You can use that shorter can on an ebody column. I installed one on my 71 cuda. As for some columns having a flat spot in the splines, just take a file and make the flat spot match the splines, I have done that before as well.

The guy with the can says that the rod to cancel the blinkers is broken.
Is this fixable?
I don't have a picture of it.

I purchased the steering wheel and I am trying to decide wether or not to buy the can.

Turns out he won't sell me the can after all.  So disregard the question.  Thanks though.
At least I got the wheel.

Yes it is. The clip that holds the copper contact ring on the back of the can also serves as the turn signal cancelling rod.
