68 Camaro........subframe?
« on: April 11, 2010 - 01:29:40 PM »
Yes, I'm quite aware this is a Mopar forum.
I am also quite aware of the tolerance for other brands that exists here ....................to an extent

But just wanted to throw this out there.
My brother has FINALLY started to get to work on his 68 Camaro.
Mind you I have NO room to talk about finally getting to anything............and also that my brother is a Mopar guy also.
This is the only Chevy he has owned, and he has had a 68 Dart, and a 67 convertible Dart and a few Challengers that we went half on back in the day.
Anyhoo I think I justified his cause  :clueless:

Ok, enough rambling  :faint:
I was just wondering if anyone here has come across or knows where a subframe is for sale for the first gen F body Camaros? (I actually think an early 70's Nova subframe will fit also, but I am not certain, not being a Chevy guy  :dunno: )
If anyone knows of one for sale in and around the New England are I would greatly appreciate any info, leads etc.....  :2thumbs:
Even though he hasn't lent a hand for one frigging second to help me with my Cahlly, or when I was rebuilding my Jeep from that d@mn house that got in my way that selfish son of a  :swear: :stomp: :swear:  :roflsmiley:
But hey, what are younger brothers for right?  :dupe:  :smilielol:
 Thanks all

HA!!!
Look how small that stubby little thing looks next to my pops B...ehemoth body  :roflsmiley: :roflsmiley:

If you are looking for a stock one, I would post a wanted ad on protouring.com.  Many of those cars get custom subframes, and there are probably a few stock "take offs" floating around.

Is that camaro missing something? I can't tell......

Have yall tried to find a Camaro forum like this one? I'm sure you will have to wade through the crap forums first, but I'm sure there is a good one out there somewhere....

Nova is different at the front horns were the bumper bolts on. I'd get an aftermarket one depending on the cost. Be care full getting a used stock one , watch out for bent or rusty ones.Tranny crossmember bolts to the subframe also.

Is it just the subframe?  Does he need the nose or anything else?  I'll keep poking around CL.

You might want to place a "Wanted" ad in CL.  I got an old obscure movie that way.  Never know who might have something for you.

Found a fiberglass nose so far but no subframe...  :dunno:

Need other parts in addition to the subframe?  Whole car for $4500 http://westernmass.craigslist.org/cto/1675224022.html

Just wanted to thank you all for talking the time to help out
Really appreciate it......and all of the links you came up with  :2thumbs:

My brother does not have a computer, so I put this thread up for him a few times so he could go through them all.

He'll definitely need one, as I fell over his original sub frame and knocked it of the jack stands this past weekend  :roflsmiley:  :swaying: :drunk:  :bricks1:

Yea it was a complete Camaro at one time.
I don't have many pics of it complete, but here's one from back in the day, (that was his 68 Dart too.......and my first car, 72 Chally  :crying: :'(  :sadwavey: :walkaway:)

AMD has reproduction sub frames.

Thanks  but unfortunately $1,500+ isn't really in the cards for him right now.
He was mostly looking for a used one fairly local if possible, but thanks again
